Our Mission
North Central Texas College Dual Credit programs are committed to supporting high school students by providing access to higher education pathways leading to increased attainment of credentials and high skilled employment opportunities in North Texas.
Dual credit is an opportunity for high school students to earn college credit that aligns to their future college and workforce goals through the attainment of credit that can be applied to both high school graduation requirements and college credentials or degrees.
Dual credit students are strongly encouraged to review opportunities with their parents or guardians, high school counselor or administrator and NCTC Dual Credit Success Coach to develop a pathway for completing at least 15 hours, earn a Level I/II Workforce Certification or earn an associate degree. Dual credit courses are an excellent way for students to save money on college classes, earn credits that transfer to 4-year institutions and gain experience with college rigor.
Advantages to Taking Dual Credit Courses
Tuition rates for dual credit classes are much less expensive than traditional college courses!
Transfer credits earned in high school to Texas public colleges and universities!
Students can experience college rigor with the support of their high school counselors and dual credit success coaches!
Depending on the courses a student takes, there is the potential to earn an Associate’s Degree or Workforce Certificate while still in high school!
Student Eligibility
- A high school student who attends a public school, private school, parochial school, or a home school is eligible to enroll in dual credit courses if the student:
- is not a degree-seeking student as defined in §4.83(10) of this subchapter (relating to Definitions);
- demonstrates that he or she is exempt under the provisions of the Texas Success Initiative as set forth in §4.54 of this chapter (relating to Exemption);
- demonstrates college readiness by achieving the minimum passing standards under the provisions of the Texas Success Initiative as set forth in §4.57 of this chapter (relating to Texas Success Initiative Assessment College Readiness Standards) on relevant section(s) of an assessment instrument approved by the Board as set forth in §4.56 of this chapter (relating to Assessment Instrument); or
- Meets the eligibility requirements for a Texas First Diploma under §21.52 of this title (relating to Eligibility for Texas First Diploma).
STEPS TO ENROLLMENT
Dual credit provides students the opportunity to obtain high school credits required for gradation and college credit simultaneously. All interested students and parents are advised to attend orientation provided by their high school campus or through NCTC and seek advisement regarding classes through their HS counselor or administrator. Dual credit students follow the same standards of admissions, enrollment and rigor as all NCTC students and therefore should prepare for the level or work and commitment required to attend college.

BE AWARE OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DEADLINE.
- Complete an online application through Apply Texas (Students: Be sure and use YOUR email that YOU check.) Here is a step-by-step guide
- Apply Texas will send an immediate email that your application has been forwarded to NCTC. If you do not get this email, please log back into Apply Texas and verify that you hit “submit”.
- Additional email(s) will follow from NCTC. It is important that you check your email (the one you used to apply). Important information from the college will be sent to this email. Information about your College ID, password and information about any missing documents.
- Required Documents for Admission:
- High School Transcript (REQUIRED for all students -should be submitted by HS counselor)
- Proof Of Meningitis Vaccination OR exemption (Required for students taking any class at an NCTC campus)
- Per THECB 4.85, degree-seeking students must meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) eligibility requirements for college-level coursework or be exempt based on alternative test scores (SAT/ACT). Scores Should be submitted through HS counselor or testing entity
- Additional documents as reflected from admission email.
- Submit Additional Required Documents to: DualCredit@nctc.edu Or Dual Credit Success Coach
- All Documents should be submitted within the following deadlines.
- Fall Submission window = February – May;
- Spring/Summer Submission window = October-March
- Set up your My NCTC student portal through OneLogin utilizing the credentials you received in your email.

Once Ready to Register, HS counselors will submit registration forms

- Please make sure ALL course information (term, course, section) are accurate when submitting registration forms.
- NCTC ID is required on all forms.
- Forms:
- Check your student portal on MyNCTC to verify schedule and pay tuition and fees.
- Apply for NCTC Scholarships before April 1st (Fall)/October 15th (Spring)
BE AWARE OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DEADLINE.

Once students have access to Canvas two courses will be required for completion that are separate from registered courses.
- Dual Credit Student Orientation is due for completion by end of September
- Dual Credit Title IX training must complete by Oct. 31. Failure to complete this course will result in a hold on any spring registered courses.
